Marshmallow Buffet?!

Well not really but...for the past bridal show we did at Glendale square we did have marshmallows in place of regular candy because it was going to be warm and I wanted to avoid melting candy! The result was a total success and I really loved the look of it all, it reminded me of what a s'mores buffet would look like. This bridal show was different in that it was just desserts and champagne/spirits provided. It was much smaller which allowed for more one on one conversations with future brides and other vendors. Along with the dessert vendors there were models with wedding gowns on provided by Splendid Bridal, my favorite gown shown below. There were also beautiful table displays showing different linen selections and centerpiece options provided by Sphire Elegance. For the bridal show we partnered with one of my favorite vendors, Taren with Sweet Petit Desserts, and together with her desserts and my design we created a beautiful display that all of our bride's enjoyed! She provided tasty macaroons and I had candy bags to pass out...this added much additional appeal to our table.

We had a great time and really enjoyed the casualness of the event and the fact that it was outdoors. We cannot wait to be apart of the next show!

Fall 2011 Bridal Shows

Angela's Posts, Events, PortfolioCole ImperiComment

As you all may know we have been super busy with bridal shows this fall! We participated in two wonderful bridal shows one at The Newport Aquarium and the other one for A Bride's Concierge held at Paul Brown Stadium...both shows combined had almost 500 brides. It was so much fun to combine talents with Sweet Petit Desserts to create a dessert buffet for all the bride's and groom's to check out. We love working together and the options for dessert buffets is endless! Check out the below combination photo from our shows and email me  for more information on how to have a dessert buffet at your next event. Dulce Designs

Fox and Hound 5k

Fox and Hound

I am excited to be doing this 5k...although I am not a runner this is not your typical race. I am walking/light jogging it with some of my good foxy friends and our "hounds".  The Fox and the Hound 5k gives the foxes (female participants) a head start, before the release of the hounds (male participants.) At the finish, the foxes, hounds, and other supporters will enjoy food and drinks at the Bulldog after-party with all proceeds going to United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Cincinnati. I guess I need to put down the candy bar and start training!!

Tomorrow is finally the day for the Afterhours Bridal Show and official Launch of A Bride's Concierge! I am so excited to be a vendor for this fabulous is really one of the only bridal shows I like to work anymore.  They get just the right crowd and the variety of vendors is excellent. But I have to admit that besides getting to chat with other wedding professionals and future brides, I am most excited about may all yellow candy buffet that I am designing! I do so many candy buffets that are now colorized and as I have mentioned in past posts, those are really my favorite to design. I have not had the opportunity to have an all yellow and white candy buffet though, so this is very fun for me. There are SO many yummy candies in yellow... for this particular candy buffet I am using:

  • Banana Runts
  • Marshmallow peeps
  • Banana Salt Water Taffy
  • Yellow Jelly Slices
  • Lemon Rock Candy
  • Mini butterfingers
  • Lollipops
  • Mr. Goodbar
  • And Marshmallow pops!

Although 95% of the candy choices are all yellow I also decided to make some marshmallow pops to add to the display. I ordered some super cute mini pinwheels from Elizabeth St. on and I am using these as the sticks for the Marshmallow pops. I have decided to dip the Marshmallow pops in a white chocolate and roll them in coconut for extra yuminess...I just hope everything goes as planned, as I am not "great" in the kitchen.

To make things ALOT easier I found this great recipe/article that I will be using to make my Marshmallow Pops...this looks easy enough right?! This is courtesy of

(Instead of Nestle Toll House Morsels, I am using Wilton's Candy Melts purchased from Michael's and the sticks will be the pinwheels that I purchased from Elizabeth St. on

LINE baking sheet with wax paper.

PUSH each lollipop stick halfway through a large marshmallow; set aside.

MELT white morsels according to package directions. Immediately dip 10 marshmallow lollipops lightly in the melted morsels for a thin coating. Set stick-side-up on prepared baking sheet.

MELT milk chocolate morsels according to package directions. Repeat dipping process as above with remaining marshmallows.

REFRIGERATE marshmallow lollipops for 10 minutes or until hardened. Use decorating icing as glue to decorate with assorted candies.

(I have decided to roll mine in coconut and instead of the "decorating icing" listed above I am just going to do the rolling before the white chocolate dries completely)

So, tomorrow is the big bridal show and I will be sure to post photos of the finished display afterwards!

Giving back!

Susan G. Komen- Christmas buffet

One thing that is very important to me year round is giving back to my community! I love to do candy baskets or favors for fundraisers/charity events, where the money received for my goods goes to a great cause. One of my favorite philanthropies to work for is the Susan G. Komen foundation. My grandma passed away of breast cancer, so this particular philanthropy hits home. That’s why when I was asked to donate a candy basket for the 3rd Annual Cincinnati Komen Crop For The Cure, which is a scrap booking/crafting event to help raise money for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Cincinnati Affiliate, I jumped on it. I put together an all pink candy basket with lots of goodies including: candy, stationary, candles, scarf and other fun items! The basket ended up going for $40 raffle tickets and the event alone raised over $8,000.

A few weeks later I was again approached to do a small candy buffet for the Charming Charlie’s event I blogged about a few weeks ago. Where 10% of all proceeds also went to the Susan G. Komen foundation. This was a wonderfully fun event, we were able to shop and know the money was going to help fight the cure for breast cancer! There were wonderful vendors there and the event raised $142 to be donated. See picture below of the small  Christmas display that was set up for Dulce Designs!

With the Christmas season approaching it is the best time to give back to your community! I am always looking for new fundraiser opportunities and would love to hear about some new ones coming up. What are some of your favorite fundraisers/charity events to work with?

Also, I wanted to give a special thank you to Kristin Siegel from Creative Memories for contacting me about the wonderful events listed above! And to my cousin Sarah Keaton for helping me work the Charming Charlies event, if I myself am not at an event then 99% of the time it is Sarah there in my place. I appreciate her help and support for Dulce Designs! :)
